What is VOC? VOC is Volatile Organic Compounds, defined by WHO (World Health Organization) as a volatile organic having a boiling point of 250°C or less. Typical substances include toluene, xylene, and ethyl acetate; there are some 200 substances in existence. They are contained in paint solvent (thinner), adhesives, inks, and cleaning agents, etc. Annually, over 1.5 million tons are discharged from stationary sources such as factories and plants. It is the typical cause of SPM and photochemical oxidant.
